Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is set to embark on a two-day state visit to India starting from February 21. This visit will be the first Head of State or Government level visit from Greece to India in 15 years.
Accompanied by a delegation of senior officials and business leaders, Prime Minister Mitsotakis will undertake a packed itinerary, commencing with a ceremonial welcome at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhawan. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will host bilateral discussions with his Greek counterpart, followed by a lunch banquet in honor of the visiting dignitary.
A highlight of the visit will be Mitsotakis’s role as the Chief Guest and Keynote Speaker at the 9th Raisina Dialogue in New Delhi, underscoring the importance of Greece-India relations on the global stage. The Greek Prime Minister will also make a stop in Mumbai before concluding his visit and returning to Athens.
India-Greece relations were significantly elevated to a ‘Strategic Partnership’ during Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Greece in August last year, reflecting the shared cultural values and mutual commitment to economic growth and collaboration in various sectors including security, defense, shipping, and maritime affairs.
The Ministry of External Affairs highlighted that both countries have been cooperating closely in multilateral forums and have a convergence of views on regional and global issues. The upcoming visit of Prime Minister Mitsotakis is anticipated to further strengthen and deepen the strategic partnership between India and Greece, opening new avenues for collaboration and mutual benefit.
