India won the South Asian Football Federation’s (SAFF) U-19 Women’s Championship 2024 defeating Bangladesh in Dhaka.
India won the Championship by virtue of a coin toss after a lengthy penalty shootout against hosts Bangladesh at the Birshrestha Shaheed Mostafa Kamal Stadium in Dhaka on Thursday.
Sibani Devi gave India the lead in the eighth minute which Indian side continued till the last few minutes but near the end Bangladesh striker Sagorika leveled the scores which led the contest to end 1-1 at full time.
All eleven players from each side converted their penalties in the shootout.
Then the on-field referees told both captains that the fate of the match would be decided by a coin toss which went in favour of India.
