The Armed Police Force of Nepal performed a Simulation Rescue operation on Chandragiri hilltop which is one of the popular tourist destinations for visitors in Kathmandu Valley. Chandragiri Hill provides some truly spectacular and phenomenal views of Kathmandu Valley and the Himalayan ranges from its top.
Chandragiri having an altitude of 2520 m offers tourists a view of mountains in the greater Himalayas like Mt Everest, Gauri-Shankar, Ganesh Himal, Manaslu, Annapurna Range and Langtang. Here, tourists travel to the hilltop by cable car in 7 minutes or by hiking in two and a half hours. Cable cars have gained popularity in recent times.
With Nepal Armed Police showing its prowess in quick rescue of passengers stuck in Cable cars due to any emergency, adds to the sense of security to the tourists. Police personnel trained in Disaster management participated in a simulated rescue operation demonstrating their skills. Deputy Inspector General Purushottam Thapa of the Armed Police Force informed that the purpose of this program is to make the entire cable car system completely safe and ensure cooperation between the Armed Police Force and the cable car operators for rescue and management in any emergency is effective.
When armed police force pitches in to ensure a quick rescue response, the convenience of travel with a sense of security to the tourists is expected to promote tourism in Nepal.
