Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on official visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), where he was warmly received by UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. During the visit, both leaders engaged in discussions aimed at enhancing the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
Various agreements were exchanged, including a Bilateral Investment Treaty and a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, facilitating increased investments between India and the UAE. Additionally, cooperation in energy, digital infrastructure, cultural preservation, and financial sectors was emphasized through the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and agreements.
The Prime Minister commended the UAE’s launch of the JAYWAN domestic card, based on India’s RuPay credit and debit card stack, which will further financial cooperation between the two nations.
Discussions also centered around strengthening energy partnerships, with India expanding its long-term contracts for liquefied natural gas (LNG) with the UAE.
Furthermore, agreements between RITES Limited and Abu Dhabi Ports Company, as well as the Gujarat Maritime Board and Abu Dhabi Ports Company, were highlighted as crucial steps in bolstering port infrastructure and connectivity.
