PM Modi to unveil infrastructure projects worth over Rs 79,000 crore for Odisha and Assam

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a two-day visit to Odisha and Assam, during which he will unveil and initiate several infrastructure projects on February 3 and 4.

Commencing on February 3 in Sambalpur, Odisha, the PM Modi is scheduled to participate in a public program, marking the inauguration of the ‘Dhamra – Angul Pipeline Section’ (412 Km) of the ‘Jagdishpur-Haldia & Bokaro-Dhamra Pipeline Project (JHBDPL).’ The initiative, valued at over Rs 2,450 crore and operating under the ‘Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga,’ seeks to integrate Odisha into the National Gas Grid.

Simultaneously, the foundation stone for the ‘Nagpur Jharsuguda Natural Gas Pipeline Section’ (692 Km) of the Mumbai-Nagpur-Jharsuguda Pipeline, with a cost exceeding Rs 2660 crore, will be laid. The project is expected to augment the availability of natural gas in states such as Odisha, Maharashtra, and Chhattisgarh.

PM Modi will also dedicate and lay the foundation stone for power projects valued at approximately Rs 28,980 crore. This includes the NTPC Darlipali Super Thermal Power Station (2×800 MW) and NSPCL Rourkela PP-II Expansion Project (1×250 MW) in Sundargarh district. Additionally, the foundation stone for the NTPC Talcher Thermal Power Project, Stage-III (2×660 MW) in Angul district, will be laid.

Taking a substantial step towards energy security, PM Modi will inaugurate the Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) Talabira Thermal power project, valued at over Rs 27,000 crore.

PM Modi will also inaugurate the permanent campus of IIM Sambalpur and dedicate the Jharsuguda Head Post Office Heritage Building to the nation.

On February 4, PM Modi will travel to Guwahati, Assam, where he is scheduled to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for projects totaling Rs 11,000 crore.

A significant project is the Maa Kamakhya Divya Pariyojana (Maa Kamakhya Access Corridor), sanctioned under the Prime Minister’s Development Initiative for North Eastern Region (PM-DevINE) scheme. This initiative aims to provide top-tier facilities for pilgrims visiting the Kamakhya temple.

The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for multiple road upgradation projects worth over Rs 3400 crore, under the South Asia Subregional Economic Cooperation (SASEC) Corridor Connectivity. This includes the upgradation of 43 roads, encompassing 38 bridges, as part of the corridor connectivity. Two 4-laning projects, namely Dolabari to Jamuguri and Biswanath Chariali to Gohpur, will be inaugurated to enhance connectivity to Itanagar and promote overall economic development.

PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for an international standards sports stadium in Chandrapur, along with the upgradation of Nehru stadium to FIFA standards. Additionally, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for the development of infrastructure at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital and the establishment of a medical college in Karimganj.
