Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday wished a speedy recovery to India’s prominent fast bowler, Mohammed Shami, who recently underwent a successful Achilles tendon operation.
Shami shared the positive news on X, expressing optimism about his recovery.
On X, PM Modi conveyed his well-wishes, stating, “Wishing you a speedy recovery and good health, MdShamill! I’m confident you’ll overcome this injury with the courage that is so integral to you.”

Currently absent from the ongoing Test series against England, Shami’s absence is particularly notable, given his instrumental role in India’s World Cup campaign last year.
The 33-year-old fast bowler, who played through pain during the entire World Cup, recently underwent a heel operation, sidelining him from the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. This setback poses a big challenge for the Gujarat Titans, as Shami, a key figure in the team’s pace attack, played a crucial role in their previous successes.
In January, Shami disclosed that he was experiencing “some stiffness” in his ankle but was hopeful that he would heal in time for the England Tests. However, that idea was ruled out later in the month when he returned to the BCCI’s National Cricket Academy (NCA) for a reassessment.
