African-American singer Mary Millben has commended PM Narendra Modi for “demonstrating compassionate leadership” through the implementation of the Citizen (Amendment) Act (CAA).
In a post on X, Millben praised PM Modi’s efforts in providing shelter to individuals facing persecution based on their faith.
Millben said the CAA is a “a true act of democracy,” providing a pathway to peace and religious freedom for Christians, Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, and Buddhists.
The singer urged the US State Department to acknowledge PM Modi’s leadership and to strive towards improving diplomatic relations with India, especially in the event of his re-election for a third term.

The Union Home Ministry notified rules for the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) on Monday.
The Act aims to grant Indian citizenship to non-Muslim migrants from Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan, fleeing religious persecution. Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis or Christians from Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh, who entered India before December 31, 2014, are eligible to apply.
