Deputy Prime Minister of New Zealand, Winston Peters, currently on a four-day official visit to India, offered prayers at the Akshardham Temple in Gandhinagar, Gujarat on Monday.
Peters, who arrived in Ahmedabad on Sunday, is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar in Delhi on March 12.
According to a statement by the Ministry of External Affairs, India and New Zealand share warm and friendly relations based on the commonalities of democratic traditions and shared values bolstered by strong people-to-people ties
The statement highlighted that the two countries are cooperating across various sectors including trade and economy, defence and security, education and research, as well as environment and climate change.
Bilateral relations between India and New Zealand were established in 1952. New Zealand has prioritized India under its “Opening Doors to India” policy, first announced in October 2011 and reaffirmed in 2015.
