Lok Sabha elections: Phase 3 set to decide the fate of prominent leaders

The third phase of voting for the Lok Sabha elections 2024 is scheduled for Tuesday, covering 93 seats across 11 states and Union territories. This phase will witness the participation of several prominent candidates from various political parties.

Voting in the third phase will occur in two constituencies in Goa, all 25 in Gujarat except Surat, seven in Chhattisgarh, and 14 in Karnataka. Additionally, voting will be held for two Lok Sabha seats in Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu. Other states where voting will take place include Assam, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal.

Key contenders in this phase include Home Minister Amit Shah, who is seeking re-election from Gandhinagar. Shah faces competition from Congress’s Sonal Patel. Former Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia, now with the BJP, is pitted against Congress’s Yadavendra Rao Deshraj Singh in Guna.

Among women candidates, Dimple Yadav of the Samajwadi Party is competing against BJP’s Jaiveer Singh Thakur in Mainpuri, while Sunetra Pawar, wife of Ajit Pawar, is contesting against Supriya Sule in Baramati, Maharashtra.

In Madhya Pradesh, former Chief Minister Digvijay Singh is contesting from Rajgarh against BJP’s Rodmal Nagar, while Shivraj Singh Chauhan, the state’s longest-serving chief minister, is facing off against Congress’s Pratap Bhanu Sharma in Vidisha.
