The bustling metropolis of Dubai witnessed an extraordinary display of unity and wellness today as over 5,000 people gathered at the Dubai World Trade Centre for a monumental International Yoga Day celebration.
The event, organized in collaboration with Friends of India, Arab Yoga Instructors Council, and Dubai Sports Council, drew participants from various backgrounds, highlighting the universal appeal of Yoga in the Emirates.
The two hour program kicked off with an introduction to Ashtanga Yoga, a rigorous form of yoga defined by Sage Patanjali’s eight-fold path. Participants were guided through a series of sessions designed to promote physical and mental well-being.
Consul General Satish Kumar Sivan, speaking at the event, emphasized the deeper significance of yoga beyond its physical benefits. He stated, “The essence of Indian culture encourages humans to adopt the pathway which leads to the ultimate truth. While the positive effects of yoga on physical or mental well-being are assured, they are but a minor byproduct of imbibing a yogic lifestyle.”
Mr. Sivan further added, “What truly matters is that yoga creates conscious human beings who see all life as one.”
This large-scale event not only showcased Dubai’s commitment to promoting health and wellness but also highlighted the city’s role as a global melting pot of cultures.
As International Yoga Day continues to gain momentum worldwide, events like this serve as a testament to yoga’s power to unite people across cultural and national boundaries.
