The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has reported a significant increase in new employee registrations for April 2024, with 16.47 lakh new employees added to its rolls.
Additionally, approximately 18,490 new establishments have been integrated into the ESI Scheme in April this year.
A closer look at the data reveals a positive trend in job generation for the nation’s youth. Out of the total 16.47 lakh new employees, 7.84 lakh, accounting for around 47.60% of the total registrations, belong to the age group of up to 25 years. This indicates a robust growth in employment opportunities for young individuals entering the workforce.
Gender-wise analysis of the payroll data shows that the net enrolment of female members stood at 3.38 lakh in April 2024. In addition, 53 transgender employees were also registered under the ESI Scheme during the same period.
