Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, today e-inaugurated 30 smart schools in Ahmedabad, marking a significant step in implementing the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The event, attended by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and other dignitaries, represents a Rs 36 crore investment by the Ahmedabad Municipal School Board.
The smart schools, distributed across various assembly constituencies in Ahmedabad, are expected to benefit over 10,000 children. Shah highlighted that 59 out of 69 schools in the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency have now been upgraded to smart schools, with the remaining set to follow suit.
These institutions incorporate advanced features such as skill development programs, vocational training, digital empowerment, and innovative teaching methods including 3-D educational charts and future classrooms. The curriculum also emphasizes Indian culture alongside core subjects.
In his address, Shah, recently re-elected as MP from Gandhinagar, pledged to make the constituency a model of development over the next five years. He expressed gratitude to his constituents and emphasized his commitment to progress across all sectors.
The Home Minister also took the opportunity to commemorate the 10th International Yoga Day, recalling Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 2014 proposal at the UN General Assembly. Shah praised yoga as a gift from India’s sages, now embraced globally, and commended the Gujarat government’s efforts in promoting yoga through various initiatives.
