Kathmandu prepares itself to hold 8th SATA award 2024

Kathmandu sets itself to host the prestigious South Asian Travel Award 2024 event to be organized on 19th September this year. Stakeholders in the Hospitality and tourism business from India, Maldives, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Bhutan contest in the South Asian Travel Award 2024 under various categories. 

In the 8th edition of SATA, winners competing for Silver and Gold Category for the Destinations and Airlines segment are completely selected through online voting while winners from the hospitality services segment are chosen through 40% online voting and 60% voting from professional jury members. 

SATA president Ismail Ahmad from Maldives informed that there are more than 400 contestants this year. SATA provides a platform for promoting and celebrating the best in South Asian hospitality. This provides a prime networking opportunity among key players in the tourism business. Nandini Thapa, CEO, of Nepal Tourism Board stressed that Nepal has been Victim of Mount Everest branding as tourists overlook other significant tourism opportunities in Nepal such as cultural tourism, Food tourism, Eco-tourism and others. Kathmandu hosting the SATA event will offer Nepal an opportunity to showcase her best in South Asia tourism. 
 
Previous editions of SATA were organized in Mount Lavinia, Addu City, Mumbai, Galle City, Male Atoll, and Bengaluru while one edition was held virtually during to COVID-19 pandemic.
