Yashasvi Jaiswal has continued his meteoric rise in international cricket by becoming the first player to surpass 1,000 runs in international cricket this calendar year. He achieved this remarkable feat during India’s second T20I against Sri Lanka at Pallekele.

In a rain-affected match where India were chasing a modest target of 78, Jaiswal dazzled with a rapid 30 off just 15 balls, including three boundaries and two sixes, at a blistering strike rate of 200.00.

Across 13 matches this year, the 22-year-old has amassed 1,023 runs at an impressive average of 63.93 and a strike rate of 94.54. His tally includes two centuries and five fifties, with his highest score being an unbeaten 214*. Notably, all of these runs have come from his performances in Tests and T20Is, as he has yet to debut in ODIs.

In the race for the most runs this year, Jaiswal is well ahead of his closest rivals: Kusal Mendis, who has scored 888 runs in 26 matches with six fifties, and Ibrahim Zadran of Afghanistan, with 844 runs in 25 matches, including one century and eight fifties.

In six Test matches this year, Jaiswal has amassed 740 runs at an average of 74.00 from 11 innings. His record includes two double centuries and three fifties, with a highest score of 214*.

Meanwhile, in seven T20Is, Jaiswal has accumulated 283 runs at an average of 47.16, with two half-centuries and a strike rate of 175.77, his best score being an unbeaten 77*.
