Foreign Secretary of India, Vikram Misri paid a courtesy visit to the President of Nepal, Ramchandra Paudel, during his diplomatic mission to Kathmandu. In this meeting, Misri conveyed the greetings and best wishes of the Indian leadership to President Paudel. The two leaders engaged in discussions aimed at further strengthening the deep-rooted ties between India and Nepal, exploring ways to enhance cooperation across various sectors.

Later in the day, Foreign Secretary Misri met with the Prime Minister of Nepal, K.P. Sharma Oli. During this meeting, Misri reaffirmed the strong civilizational and multifaceted relationship between the two neighboring countries. The discussions focused on providing fresh momentum to bilateral cooperation, with particular emphasis on initiatives that would benefit both nations.

In alignment with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s environmental campaign, “Ek Ped Ma Ke Naam” (A Tree in the Name of the Mother), Foreign Secretary Misri planted a sapling of Nili Gulmohar on the premises of the Embassy of India in Kathmandu. This symbolic gesture reflects India’s commitment to environmental conservation and the strengthening of ties between the two countries.

Additionally, Foreign Secretary Misri, along with Maniram Gelal, Secretary of the Ministry of Urban Development, Government of Nepal, jointly inaugurated the new building of the Nepal Bhasha Parishad in Kathmandu. The building, constructed under India’s post-earthquake reconstruction grant, stands as a testament to the enduring partnership between India and Nepal and their collaborative efforts in rebuilding and fostering cultural ties.

These diplomatic engagements underscore the commitment of both India and Nepal to furthering their close and cooperative relationship, built on shared history, culture, and mutual respect.
