Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the strong partnership between India and the United States in the realm of artificial intelligence (AI), coining the term “America-India spirit” during his address to the Indian diaspora at the Nassau Coliseum in Long Island, New York.

At the “Modi & US” event, PM Modi said, “For the world, AI means artificial intelligence, but for me, AI also means American-Indian spirit. This is the new ‘AI’ power of the world. I salute the Indian diaspora here.”

He praised the Indian community for being the country’s strongest brand ambassadors, stating, “I have always understood your potential. You have connected India with America and America with India. Your skill, talent, and commitment are unmatched.”

The Prime Minister highlighted the evolution of the Indian greeting, noting, “Now Apna Namaste has also become multinational. It has gone from local to global, and you have done all this. Every Indian who keeps India in his heart has contributed to this connection.”

PM Modi reinforced the notion of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,” which means “the world is one family,” emphasizing the diversity of India. “We are residents of a country with hundreds of languages and religions, yet we move forward united. This is our biggest strength in connecting with the world,” he said.

The Prime Minister’s visit comes as the US and India are set to become leading powerhouses in AI. He referenced the significant strides made through the Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technology (iCET), which facilitates cooperation in areas such as space, semiconductors, and telecommunications.

As he addressed the crowd of 15,000 members of the Indian diaspora, PM Modi received a standing ovation. Talented artists from the Indian community performed, setting a celebratory tone for the event.
