The situation in Manipur is now under full control following recent unrest, according to DIG CRPF Manish Kumar Sachar. In a statement on Wednesday, DIG Sachar confirmed that security forces are responding effectively to miscreants involved in the violence.

The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Assam Rifles, and Manipur Police commandos have been deployed at strategic locations, including Gamgiphai, the interstate check post between Kangpokpi district (Kuki area) and West Imphal district (Meitei area). “Forces are regularly conducting checks at this naka to prevent unauthorized entry of individuals or goods,” DIG Sachar told ANI.

He reassured that although minor incidents are occurring on the outskirts, they are being swiftly addressed. “The reports of an attack on a CRPF camp took place in a fringe area. Small incidents on the outskirts are being handled by our forces, who are giving a strong response to the miscreants,” he added. Sachar emphasized that unlawful activities are steadily losing ground.

In the wake of the unrest, the state government has suspended internet services in Manipur until September 15. Manipur Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya has also expressed his concerns over the violence, urging all parties to work towards peace.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma voiced his apprehensions, stating that the situation in Manipur is complex due to its historical and communal factors. Sangma called for intervention by the Government of India to facilitate a political solution and restore confidence among the diverse communities in the state.

Meanwhile, Manipur Police has appealed to the public to refrain from violent protests and adhere to lawful means of demonstration. They also warned against the spread of fake news and rumors on social media, stating that strict legal action will be taken against those responsible for circulating misinformation.
