External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar, made a significant cultural visit to key historical landmarks in Riyadh today, underscoring the enduring cultural and historical ties between India and Saudi Arabia. His visit highlighted the shared heritage that continues to strengthen contemporary relations between the two nations.

Jaishankar began his tour at the Saudi National Museum, where he was welcomed by the Director General, Ms. Rola Al Ghrair. The minister explored six of the museum’s galleries, gaining insights into Saudi Arabia’s rich history and cultural evolution. At the conclusion of the tour, Jaishankar was presented with a special souvenir, symbolizing the deepening connection between the two countries.

The foreign minister’s cultural tour continued with a visit to the King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives (DARAH) and Murabba Palace. He was hosted by DARAH’s CEO, Mr. Turki bin Mohammed Al Shuwaier, during which he toured the King Abdulaziz Memorial Hall and explored the historic Murabba Palace, a landmark that reflects the heritage of Saudi Arabia.

Jaishankar signed the visitor’s book and was gifted a book detailing the life and legacy of King Abdulaziz, further emphasizing the importance of these historical connections.

Looking ahead, Jaishankar is set to participate in the inaugural India-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Foreign Ministers’ Meeting tomorrow. This historic meeting is expected to mark a pivotal moment in strengthening diplomatic and economic ties between India and the Gulf nations. 

Additionally, the minister will hold bilateral talks with his counterparts from various GCC member countries, further advancing India’s relationships across the region.
