Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a rousing welcome upon his arrival in Wilmington, Delaware, on Saturday, where members of the Indian diaspora performed traditional ‘Garba’ at the Hotel duPont. The atmosphere was electric as community members expressed their excitement to meet the Prime Minister.

One diaspora member shared his enthusiasm, saying, “We are excited to see PM Modi. He is a great Prime Minister, probably one of the best we’ve had since independence. We wish him a long life and all the best to India and the world.”

Meanwhile, another member of the Indian Diaspora sang ‘Saare Jahaan se Accha’ as PM Modi arrived at Hotel duPont in Wilmington.

The Prime Minister landed in Philadelphia earlier in the day amidst chants of “Modi, Modi.” His visit includes a bilateral meeting with US President Joe Biden and participation in the Quad Summit.

Outside the airport, an artist shared her experience of meeting PM Modi, saying, “He signed my painting today. When he saw it, he asked me where I’m from, and I told him I’m from the Mithila region. The painting is based on the theme of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.”

Furthermore, PM Modi also signed the second edition of a comprehensive book on the Gupta Empire, which he had originally launched in 2018. A diaspora member remarked, “This is a detailed book on the Gupta Empire, and today, he has signed the second edition.”

The excitement among the Indian community in Delaware was palpable, with chants of “Modi, Modi” resonating as members gathered to welcome their leader. PM Modi acknowledged their achievements, adding that the Indian community has distinguished itself in the US, contributing positively across various sectors.

Sharing a post on X, following his arrival at Hotel duPont in Wilmington, Delaware, Prime Minister Modi wrote, “The Indian community has distinguished itself in the USA, making a positive impact across diverse sectors. It’s always a delight to interact with them.”

“At around 9:30 PM India time on Sunday, 22nd September, I will address the @ModiandUS programme in New York City. Let’s celebrate the bonds that connect our nations!” the Prime Minister said.

During the Quad Summit, PM Modi will join US President Joe Biden, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida to discuss regional security and cooperation in the Indo-Pacific. The last Quad Leaders’ Summit took place in Hiroshima, Japan, on May 20, 2023.
