Danish Police probing two blasts near Israeli Embassy in Copenhagen

Danish police said on Wednesday that they are conducting “initial investigations” at the scene where two explosions occurred near the Israeli Embassy in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The police reported that no injuries were sustained in the explosions, which shook the Strandagervej/Lundevangsvej area. “Based on two explosions, we are present in the Strandagervej/Lundevangsvej area. No one has been injured, and we are carrying out the initial investigations at the scene. A possible connection to the Israeli Embassy, located in the area, is being investigated,” the Copenhagen police stated in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

“We are currently receiving many calls that we are unable to answer,” the police added. Further details are awaited.

The explosions come at a time when West Asia is gripped by escalating tensions. The situation intensified after Iran launched nearly 200 ballistic missiles at targets in Israel, prompting the United States military to closely coordinate with the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) to help defend against the attack.

U.S. naval destroyers joined Israeli air defense units in firing interceptors to shoot down incoming missiles.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned Iran’s missile attack as a “big mistake” and warned that Tehran would face repercussions. “Iran made a big mistake today and will pay for it. The Iranian regime does not understand our resolve to defend ourselves and to take revenge on our enemies,” Netanyahu said.

Meanwhile, Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari described Iran’s attack as a “severe and dangerous escalation.”

“There will be consequences. We will respond wherever, whenever, and however we choose, in accordance with the directive of the Israeli government,” said Hagari in response to Iran’s large-scale attack.

Following the death of Hezbollah Chief Hassan Nasrallah, Netanyahu had previously warned Iran’s Ayatollah regime, asserting that those who target Israel will face consequences and that no location in Iran or West Asia is beyond Israel’s reach.
