Air Marshal Jasvir Singh Mann assumes command of Southern Air Command

Air Marshal Jasvir Singh Mann on Wednesday assumed charge as the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOC-in-C) of the Southern Air Command of the Indian Air Force.

 

He was accorded a ceremonial Guard of Honour at the Headquarters Southern Air Command on the occasion.

 

Commissioned into the fighter stream of the Indian Air Force on December 16, 1989, Air Marshal Mann is a graduate of the Defence Services Staff College, the Higher Air Command Course, and the Royal College of Defence Studies in London. A qualified Pilot Attack Instructor, he has accumulated more than 3,000 flying hours on aircraft including the Apache, MiG-21, Jaguar, MiG-29, Su-30 and Rafale.

 

During a career spanning nearly four decades, he has commanded a fighter squadron and served as the Air Officer Commanding of a premier fighter base. He has also held several key command and staff appointments, including Air Defence Commander and Senior Officer-in-Charge Administration of a Command.

 

At Air Headquarters, Air Marshal Mann served as Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Operations-Offensive) and Director General (Weapon Systems). Prior to assuming his present appointment, he was serving as the Senior Air Staff Officer at the Western Air Command, where he contributed to enhancing joint operational capabilities across multiple domains.

 

In recognition of his distinguished service, Air Marshal Mann has been awarded the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM) and the Vayu Sena Medal (VM).

 

He succeeds Air Marshal Manish Khanna, who retired from service on June 30, 2026, after nearly four decades of distinguished service in the Indian Air Force.
