PM Narendra Modi launches projects worth Rs 7,600 crore in Maharashtra

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday virtually laid the foundation stone for several development projects in Maharashtra, with a total value exceeding Rs 7,600 crore.

One of the major projects is the upgradation of the Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport in Nagpur, with an investment of Rs 7,000 crore. The projected is expected to boost key sectors such as manufacturing, tourism, and healthcare in the Vidarbha region.

Additionally, PM Modi launched the construction of a new terminal at Shirdi Airport, designed to reflect the spiritual significance of the neem tree associated with Sai Baba. This Rs 645 crore project aims to cater to the growing number of religious tourists visiting Shirdi.

In his address, the Prime Minister said that several major development projects, worth thousands of crores, have been launched in Maharashtra, including metro expansions, airport upgrades, and key road and highway infrastructure projects aimed at boosting connectivity and regional development.

He emphasized the importance of sectors like infrastructure, solar energy, and the creation of textile parks, alongside new initiatives targeting farmers and livestock owners.

He also underscored the significance of Vadhavan Port, India’s largest container port whose foundation stone was laid by PM Modi in August.

“The foundation for the country’s largest container port, Vadhavan Port, has been laid in Maharashtra. Never before in Maharashtra’s history has such rapid and large-scale development occurred across so many sectors,” PM Modi said.

Highlighting the government’s focus on skilling the workforce, PM Modi said: “Today, countries around the world see India as a hub of human resources. Our youth have immense opportunities in every field, from education and healthcare to software, across the globe. That is why we are equipping them with skills matching global standards.”

The Prime Minister also inaugurated 10 new government medical colleges across Maharashtra and launched the Indian Institute of Skills (IIS) in Mumbai, which will offer advanced training in cutting-edge fields such as artificial intelligence and robotics.

Additionally, PM Modi inaugurated the Vidya Samiksha Kendra (VSK), aimed at improving education management by offering data-driven insights for schools and resources for teaching and learning.
