Prime Minister Narendra Modi has described the BJP-led MahaYuti alliance’s decisive victory in the Maharashtra Assembly elections as a “historic mandate” for development and good governance. The alliance is poised to retain power with a commanding majority, winning or leading in 230 of the 288 assembly seats, while the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi has secured or is leading in only 50 seats.

In a post on X, PM Modi thanked the people of Maharashtra for their overwhelming support and reaffirmed his commitment to the state’s progress.

“Development wins! Good governance wins! United we will soar even higher! Heartfelt gratitude to my sisters and brothers of Maharashtra, especially the youth and women, for a historic mandate to the NDA. I assure the people that our Alliance will keep working for Maharashtra’s progress. Jai Maharashtra!”* he wrote.

The Prime Minister also expressed gratitude to voters across multiple states for supporting NDA candidates in the by-polls held alongside the assembly elections.

“NDA’s pro-people efforts resonate all over! I thank people across various states for blessing NDA candidates in the various by-polls held. We will leave no stone unturned in fulfilling their dreams and aspirations,” he added, praising NDA workers for their grassroots efforts.

The by-polls were conducted for 48 assembly seats and two Lok Sabha constituencies across 15 states. The NDA performed strongly, including in Uttar Pradesh, where the BJP won four seats and led in two, with ally RLD leading on one. In Bihar, the NDA swept all four seats, while the Congress claimed the lone Rajasthan seat of Dausa.

In Maharashtra, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis lauded the electorate for granting MahaYuti an “unprecedented victory,” affirming that the coalition stands united with no internal disputes.

“The people of Maharashtra have given us an unprecedented victory. This shows that they are with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In line with the slogan ‘ek hain toh safe hain,’ people from all sections and communities voted for us unitedly,” Fadnavis said.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah congratulated Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Ministers Ajit Pawar and Devendra Fadnavis for MahaYuti’s landslide win, underscoring the alliance’s collective leadership and vision for the state’s development.
