An encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday morning.
The Indian Army’s Chinar Corps said that a joint operation involving the Army and J&K Police was launched in the Margi area of Lolab, Kupwara, on Tuesday, based on intelligence suggesting the presence of terrorists.
“Contact was established and a firefight ensued. Operation is ongoing,” the Chinar Corps said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
In a separate development, security forces killed a terrorist in the ongoing Operation Kaitsan in Bandipora.
Additionally, Jammu and Kashmir Police, along with the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), arrested a terrorist associate, identified as Ashiq Hussain Wani, from Sopore. Wani is a resident of Tujar Shareef in J&K’s Sopore, police officials said.
