Indian Navy delegation strengthens strategic ties at EURONAVAL 2024 in Paris visit

A high-level delegation from the Indian Navy attended EURONAVAL 2024 in Paris from November 4 to 7, with the visit highlighting India’s growing role in the global maritime defense arena. The world’s largest naval defense trade show, EURONAVAL 2024, featured cutting-edge naval defense technology and innovations essential to maritime security.

Vice Admiral Krishna Swaminathan, Vice Chief of Naval Staff, represented the Indian Navy, engaging with prominent global defense manufacturers involved in strategic projects with India’s armed forces and defense sector under the ‘Make in India’ initiative.

India’s Ambassador to France, Jawed Ashraf, also met with Vice Admiral Swaminathan, discussing national security and the potential for enhanced naval collaboration between India and France within the context of EURONAVAL.

With attendees from 104 countries, this year’s event presented innovative defense solutions for protecting naval forces and maritime infrastructure, including advancements in anti-ship missiles, multi-drone destruction systems, and air and surface drone countermeasures. The gathering showcased the latest technological developments shaping future navies and provided a critical platform for international cooperation and defense sovereignty.

In a recent interview, Hugues du Plessis d’Argentré, Managing Director of EURONAVAL, emphasized the 70-year Indo-French naval defense partnership, highlighting France’s support in establishing 20 factories in India for local production of essential naval assets, including submarines, as part of the ‘Make in India’ vision.
