PM to lay Foundation Stone of Ken-Betwa river linking national project in Madhya Pradesh on Vajpayee’s 100th birth anniversary

On the occasion of the 100th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will visit Madhya Pradesh on December 25.

At around 12:30 PM, he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for several significant development projects in Khajuraho.

One of the key initiatives will be the laying of the foundation stone for the Ken-Betwa River Linking National Project, the country’s first interlinking of rivers under the National Perspective Plan.

This project will provide irrigation facilities to various districts in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, benefiting lakhs of farming families.

It will also ensure drinking water supply to the region’s residents and contribute over 100 MW of green energy through hydropower, creating employment opportunities and boosting the rural economy.

As part of the centenary celebrations, Prime Minister Modi will release a commemorative stamp and coin in honor of Vajpayee.

He will also lay the foundation stone for 1,153 Atal Gram Sushasan Bhawans, which will aid in streamlining the work of Gram Panchayats and promoting good governance at the local level.

Furthering his commitment to clean energy, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the Omkareshwar Floating Solar Project in Khandwa district, which aims to reduce carbon emissions and contribute to India’s goal of net-zero carbon emissions by 2070.

The project will also help conserve water by reducing evaporation.
