Prime Minister Narendra Modi will preside over the e-Distribution of 58 lakh SVAMITVA Property Cards on December 27, 2024, at 12:30 PM via video conferencing.
This landmark event marks a significant step in India’s journey toward rural empowerment and governance reform, benefiting approximately 50,000 villages across 10 states and 2 Union Territories, including Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
The event will celebrate the milestone of surpassing 2 crore property cards under the SVAMITVA scheme, with the distribution of 58 lakh property cards in a single day.
Prime Minister Modi will interact with select beneficiaries and deliver a nationwide address, accompanied by Union Minister of Panchayati Raj Rajiv Ranjan Singh, Minister of State for Panchayati Raj Prof. S.P. Singh Baghel, and other senior officials.
Thirteen Union Ministers will join the event from various locations across the country to oversee regional distribution ceremonies.
Extensive preparations are underway for the event, with the Ministry of Panchayati Raj organizing outreach and awareness programs at around 20,000 locations nationwide to maximize the impact of the SVAMITVA Scheme and other flagship initiatives.
Since its launch on April 24, 2020, the SVAMITVA Scheme has aimed to provide “Record of Rights” to property owners in rural areas through drone and GIS technology.
The scheme has facilitated drone mapping in 3.17 lakh villages, resulting in the preparation of over 2.19 crore property cards in 1.49 lakh villages.
The digitally validated property records have strengthened local governance, enhanced Gram Panchayat Development Plans (GPDPs), and facilitated access to institutional credit for rural citizens, empowering them financially.
Additionally, the scheme has provided women with legal property ownership, thereby increasing their financial and social security, while also significantly reducing land disputes due to accurate property mapping.
Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the government’s commitment to this transformative initiative was evident when the first property cards were virtually distributed in October 2020.
The SVAMITVA scheme exemplifies the government’s whole-of-government approach, fostering financial inclusion, better infrastructure planning, and sustainable growth in rural India.
