Singapore’s Foreign Minister pays tribute to Manmohan Singh, calls him “eminent statesman”

Singapore’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Vivian Balakrishnan, visited the Indian High Commission in Singapore to sign a condolence book in memory of former Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Describing Singh as an “eminent statesman” who served India with humility and integrity, Balakrishnan praised his role in strengthening India-Singapore ties.

He also shared a photograph of former Singapore PM Lee Hsien Loong with Singh, reflecting on their close diplomatic relationship.

The Indian High Commission in Singapore expressed its gratitude for his gesture, acknowledging the respect shown by the Singaporean government.

Manmohan Singh, who passed away on December 26 at the age of 92, was cremated with full state honours in Delhi on December 28.

Several prominent figures, including President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Congress leaders Sonia and Rahul Gandhi, were present to pay their respects to the former Prime Minister, whose leadership shaped India’s economic reforms and modernization efforts during his time in office from 2004 to 2014.
