The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday said that it achieved a record 100 percent conviction rate in 2024 following the arrest of 210 individuals.
The NIA apprehended 27 absconding criminals during the year and registered 80 cases in total, targeting various offences such as Left Wing Extremism (LWE), North East insurgency, and terrorism. LWE and North East insurgency topped the list with 28 and 18 cases, respectively.
The anti-terror probe agency also handled cases involving Khalistani, ISIS, and Jihadi activities, alongside gangsters and cyberterrorism.
Additionally, NIA carried out 662 searches, attaching properties worth ₹19.57 crore, and making significant arrests in terrorism and gangster cases. The agency’s crackdown included seizures of arms, explosives, and terrorist activities, as well as high-profile extraditions, such as that of Tarsem Singh Sandhu from the UAE.
NIA’s success also included the swift resolution of cases like the Rameshwaram café blast and the arrest of several absconders.
With the training of 1,678 state police officers and the establishment of two new NIA courts, the agency strengthened its capacity to combat terrorism and organized crime across India.
