Airports authority announces temporary suspension of civil flight operations at 32 airports

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) and relevant aviation authorities have announced the temporary suspension of civil flight operations at 32 airports across northern and western India.

The suspension, effective from 9 May to 14 May 2025 (until 0529 IST on 15 May 2025), is due to operational reasons, and all civil flight activities will remain suspended at these airports during this period.

The affected airports include those in Adhampur, Ambala, Amritsar, Awantipur, Bathinda, Bhuj, Bikaner, Chandigarh, Halwara, Hindon, Jaisalmer, Jammu, Jamnagar, Jodhpur, Kandla, Kangra (Gaggal), Keshod, Kishangarh, Kullu Manali (Bhuntar), Leh, Ludhiana, Mundra, Naliya, Pathankot, Patiala, Porbandar, Rajkot (Hirasar), Sarsawa, Shimla, Srinagar, Thoise, and Uttarlai.

In addition, the AAI has also announced the temporary closure of 25 segments of Air Traffic Service (ATS) routes within the Delhi and Mumbai Flight Information Regions (FIRs) due to operational reasons. These 25 route segments will remain unavailable from ground level to unlimited altitude until 2359 UTC on 14 May 2025, which corresponds to 0529 IST on 15 May 2025.

Airlines and flight operators have been advised to plan alternate routings in accordance with the latest air traffic advisories. The closure is being managed in close coordination with Air Traffic Control (ATC) units to ensure safety and minimise disruption.

The authorities have stressed that the temporary suspension is necessary for operational reasons, and every effort will be made to mitigate the impact on air traffic operations. Airlines are encouraged to review the updated air traffic advisories and adjust their flight schedules accordingly to ensure minimal disruption.
