In a decisive response to the April 22 terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam that claimed the lives of 26 individuals, the Indian Armed Forces launched a successful retaliatory mission codenamed Operation Sindoor.
The coordinated operation, conducted in the early hours of Wednesday, targeted nine terrorist camps across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). Among the locations struck were terror hubs in Bahawalpur, Muridke, and Sialkot.
The operation was closely monitored throughout the night by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Channaveerappa, father of Bharat Bhushan—one of the victims of the Pahalgam attack—expressed his support for the Indian government’s swift action. “After bringing the body of my son, we thought that Modi would take some definite steps to control these terrorist attacks, and the Government of India has done it,” he said.
He added that he had heard that around 100 terrorists were killed in the operation. “Definitely, this is 50% justice. But more needs to be done. There are still terrorist hideouts that haven’t been located yet,” he said, calling for continued military action until the threat is fully neutralized.
Kunal Ganbote, whose father Kaustabh Ganbote also died in the attack, thanked the Indian Armed Forces and the government. He noted that the operation’s name, Sindoor, symbolized respect for women like his mother, who lost their spouses in the attack. “We all were waiting for such action, and our hopes have been fulfilled,” he said.
In Kanpur, the wife of slain businessman Shubham Dwivedi also expressed her gratitude. “I want to thank PM Modi for taking revenge for my husband’s death,” she told ANI. “This is the real tribute to my husband. Wherever he is, he will be at peace today.”
Shubham’s father, Sanjay Dwivedi, echoed the sentiment, saying, “The way the Indian military has destroyed the terrorism that is flourishing in Pakistan, I thank our military… My entire family has been feeling light since we heard this news.”
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar emphasized the need for global solidarity against terrorism. In a post on social media platform X, he stated, “The world must show zero tolerance for terrorism.”
