Neeraj Chopra urges public to follow guidelines to ensure everyone’s safety amid escalating India-Pakistan tensions

Amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, India’s Olympic hero Neeraj Chopra has voiced strong support for the Indian Armed Forces, applauding their courage and commitment in combating terrorism.

The two-time Olympic medallist and reigning javelin star took to his official X handle to express solidarity with the armed forces and urged citizens to act responsibly during this sensitive time.

“We are proud of our brave Indian Armed Forces who are fighting for our nation against terrorism. Let’s do our part and make sure to follow guidelines to ensure everyone’s safety during this time. Jai Hind, Jai Bharat, Jai Hind ki Sena,” Chopra said.

Neeraj’s season begins with the Doha Diamond League on May 16, followed by the first-ever Neeraj Chopra Classic in Bengaluru on May 24. Due to this schedule, he will miss upcoming events, with Sachin Yadav and Yashvir Singh set to represent India in the men’s javelin throw in his absence.

Meanwhile, defence sources on Thursday reported that Pakistan fired eight missiles targeting Satwari, Samba, RS Pura, and Arnia — all of which were intercepted and neutralised by Indian air defence units.

Explosions were also heard in Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir, as Indian air defence systems intercepted Pakistani drones. Similar interceptions occurred in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, where residents reported explosions and flashes in the sky.

As a precautionary measure, complete blackouts were enforced in Bikaner (Rajasthan), Jalandhar (Punjab), and multiple areas in Jammu and Kashmir including Kishtwar, Akhnoor, Samba, Jammu, and Amritsar.

Earlier, India launched Operation Sindoor in response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, which killed 28 civilians. During the operation, Indian forces carried out precision strikes targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). India has reiterated that any attack on its military installations will invite a suitable response.
