Operation Sindoor: ‘World must show zero tolerance for terrorism,’ says EAM Jaishankar as India strikes nine terror sites in Pakistan

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Wednesday reaffirmed India’s uncompromising stance against terrorism, urging the international community to adopt a policy of “zero tolerance.”

“The world must show zero tolerance for terrorism,” Jaishankar posted on X, underlining India’s firm diplomatic and strategic approach to cross-border threats.

His remarks came in the wake of ‘Operation Sindoor’, a precision military response to the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed the lives of 26 civilians—25 Indians and one Nepali. The operation, launched overnight, targeted nine terrorist infrastructure sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).

The Ministry of Defence emphasized that the strikes were “focused, measured and non-escalatory” with no military infrastructure targeted within Pakistani territory.

“India has demonstrated considerable restraint in the selection of targets and method of execution,” the ministry said in a statement.

“These steps come in the wake of the barbaric Pahalgam terrorist attack in which 25 Indians and one Nepali citizen were murdered. We are living up to the commitment that those responsible for this attack will be held accountable,” it added.

According to sources cited by IANS, Prime Minister Narendra Modi remained in constant communication with top military commanders and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval throughout the duration of the mission.

Operation Sindoor is being seen as one of India’s most significant cross-border military actions since the 2019 Balakot airstrikes, sending a strong message about India’s resolve to respond decisively to acts of terror.
