Govt to roll out 100-day transformation agenda to fast-track India’s path to developed nation: Piyush Goyal

The government is set to launch a 100-day transformation agenda aimed at fast-tracking India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation by 2047. Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal announced this at the 2nd Lokmat Global Economic Convention, underscoring that “no power on earth can stop India” from achieving this goal.

Goyal said the initiative follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Independence Day call to accelerate progress and fulfill the vision of a developed India. He noted that the agenda will be driven by the “Panch Prans” (Five Pledges), with every citizen contributing as a duty towards national prosperity. He stressed that this collective effort would reflect the unity of 140 crore Indians, rooted in India’s heritage, culture, and traditions, while erasing the colonial mindset.

Pointing to global confidence in India’s economic growth, Goyal highlighted experts’ projections that the country is set to become the world’s most attractive consumer market and investment destination. He credited the progress to initiatives like Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat, which are strengthening supply chains and enhancing resilience. “India has arrived on the global stage,” he said, quoting the Prime Minister’s words, “yehi samay hai, sahi samay hai” (this is the time, the right time).

Paying tribute to Lokmat Group founder Jawaharlal Darda, Goyal described him as a freedom fighter and respected leader, adding that Lokmat has consistently worked to advance Maharashtra’s progress beyond political lines. He underlined Maharashtra’s status as India’s largest economy, playing a leading role in the national growth story.

The Minister also spoke on reforms to boost ease of doing business by reducing compliances and regulatory burdens, encouraging industries to invest with confidence. He called for close collaboration between the government and media in driving this transformation.

Highlighting India’s expanding trade footprint, Goyal said the country has successfully concluded balanced free trade agreements with the UAE, Mauritius, the EFTA group (Switzerland, Norway, Liechtenstein, Iceland), and the UK, while also advancing talks with other partners. He emphasized that these agreements are opening new opportunities for MSMEs, farmers, and the animal husbandry sector while safeguarding the dairy industry and widening market access for Indian goods and services.
