Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday extended warm greetings to people across the country on the auspicious conclusion of the four-day-long Chhath Puja, praying for the well-being and prosperity of all devotees.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister expressed joy over the successful completion of the festival, which is dedicated to the worship of the Sun God and Chhathi Maiya.
“Today, the auspicious conclusion of the great festival of Chhath took place with the morning arghya offered to Lord Sun God. During this four-day ritual, we witnessed the divine glimpse of our grand tradition of Chhath Puja,” PM Modi posted on X.
Extending his wishes, he said, “Heartfelt greetings to all devotees, worshippers, and family members who became a part of this sacred celebration! May the infinite grace of Chhathi Maiya forever illuminate your lives.”
Across the country, devotees gathered early Tuesday morning to offer Usha Arghya (morning offerings) to the rising Sun, marking the conclusion of the Chhath Mahaparv. Thousands assembled along riverbanks, ponds, and ghats to perform rituals and seek blessings for prosperity and happiness.
In Delhi, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta participated in the concluding rituals of Chhath Puja at Hathi Ghat near ITO, where she offered Usha Arghya and performed traditional prayers. “I am fortunate that I was able to participate in the worship of Chhathi Maiya, and we all together celebrated this great festival of Chhath,” she told ANI.
In Bihar, thousands of devotees thronged riverbanks and ghats, including the Patna Collectorate Ghat, to offer Usha Arghya. Offerings of fruits and flowers were placed along the ghats as chants of devotion filled the air. Security personnel were deployed at major ghats to ensure smooth conduct of the rituals.
In Uttar Pradesh, Guru Gorakhnath Ghat on the Rapti River in Gorakhpur and the ghats of Varanasi, including Shastri Ghat, witnessed large gatherings of devotees offering prayers to the rising Sun. In Noida, women stood knee-deep in water covered with rose petals, offering arghya on the final morning of the festival.
The four-day Chhath Mahaparv, dedicated to the Sun God and Chhathi Maiya, began on October 25 with Nahay-Khay, followed by Kharna on October 26, Sandhya Arghya (evening offerings) on October 27, and concluded on October 28 with Usha Arghya (morning offerings).
