PM Modi dedicates Advanced Night Vision factory in Nimmaluru, Andhra Pradesh

Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated to the nation an Advanced Night Vision factory in Nimmaluru, Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh, on Thursday, marking a key step towards Aatmanirbharta in defence.

The facility, established by Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) at an investment of around Rs 360 crore, is part of multiple development projects worth approximately Rs 13,430 crore in Kurnool, for which the Prime Minister also laid foundation stones and inaugurated other initiatives.

Speaking at the event, the Prime Minister highlighted that the factory will strengthen India’s capability to produce night vision devices, missile sensors, and drone guard systems, while also boosting the country’s defence exports. He referred to the success of indigenous weapon systems during Operation Sindoor, stating that the facility will play a significant role in future defence preparedness.

PM Modi also expressed satisfaction that the Andhra Pradesh government plans to develop Kurnool as a national drone hub. He noted that the drone sector will create multiple opportunities in futuristic technologies, benefiting Kurnool and the state as a whole.

The Nimmaluru facility, spread over 50.54 acres with a built-up area of 36,000 sqm, is designed to meet the demands of the Armed Forces as well as for export purposes. It will produce Advanced Night Vision Devices, Infrared Seekers for indigenously developed missiles, and various drone guard systems to counter rogue drones and aerial threats.

With flexible production lines and space for future product expansion, the facility is expected to generate employment over the next 2–3 years, contributing to both local development and India’s strategic defence capabilities.
