Minister for Labour & Employment and Youth Affairs & Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, has arrived in Doha to participate in the Second World Summit for Social Development (WSSD-2), hosted by the State of Qatar from November 4 to 6, 2025.
During his visit, Dr. Mandaviya will attend the Opening Plenary Meeting, deliver India’s National Statement, and join world leaders in adopting the Doha Political Declaration. He will also address the High-Level Round Table on “Strengthening the Three Pillars of Social Development: Poverty Eradication, Full and Productive Employment and Decent Work for All, and Social Inclusion,” where he will highlight India’s inclusive, digitally enabled growth model that promotes decent work and social protection.
On November 5, Dr. Mandaviya will take part in a side event hosted by NITI Aayog on “Pathways Out of Poverty: India’s Experience in Empowering the Last Mile,” which will showcase India’s success in poverty reduction, women’s economic empowerment through Self-Help Groups and cooperatives, and the expansion of social security. He will also participate in an ILO-sponsored Ministerial Event on the Global Coalition for Social Justice, reaffirming India’s commitment to equitable growth and decent work.
In addition to the Summit, Dr. Mandaviya will hold bilateral meetings with counterparts from Qatar, Romania, Mauritius, and the European Union, as well as with the Director-General of the International Labour Organization and senior UN officials. These discussions are expected to strengthen cooperation in labour mobility, skilling, social protection, and employment generation.
The Minister will also attend an event on India’s National Career Service (NCS) Portal, which connects job seekers and employers to foster inclusive labour market access, and visit Qatar’s Aspire Zone Complex to explore collaboration in sports management and youth engagement.
Dr. Mandaviya’s participation at WSSD-2 reflects India’s enduring commitment to global cooperation for social justice and inclusive growth. Guided by the vision of “Viksit Bharat@2047,” India continues to demonstrate how digital innovation, financial inclusion, and community participation can drive sustainable and equitable development.
