Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Bhutan’s Fourth King, Jigme Singye Wangchuck, in Thimphu on Wednesday, during his visit to the Himalayan kingdom.
The meeting coincided with the celebrations marking the 70th birth anniversary of the Fourth King. PM Modi conveyed his greetings and extended the good wishes of the Government and people of India for His Majesty’s continued good health and well-being. He also expressed gratitude for the Fourth King’s leadership and guidance in deepening the enduring friendship between India and Bhutan.
The two leaders discussed various aspects of the close bilateral partnership and exchanged views on issues of mutual interest. They underscored the shared spiritual and cultural heritage that continues to strengthen the bonds between the peoples of the two nations.
Later, the Prime Minister joined the King of Bhutan and Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay at the Kalachakra initiation ceremony, held at Changlimithang Stadium as part of the Global Peace Prayer Festival.
