Yemen | Indian crew member | Anilkumar Raveendran

Indian crew member detained in Yemen since July released and returns home

Government of India has welcomed the release of Indian crew member Anilkumar Raveendran, who was on the ship MV Eternity C and under detention in Yemen since July 7, 2025. He reached Muscat on Tuesday and is expected to travel back to India soon. The government had been coordinating efforts with various parties to ensure his safe release and return. In a statement issued, MEA expressed gratitude to the Sultanate of Oman for facilitating the release of Raveendran.

Raveendran, a former army personnel from Pathiyoor, was among the crew members of the Liberia-flagged MV Eternity C who went missing following a Houthi missile attack on the cargo vessel in the Red Sea. The incident occurred in early July, after which the crew members were detained in Yemen. During his detention, Raveendran contacted his family to inform them he was safe, providing relief to his relatives who had been anxiously awaiting news of his whereabouts. The successful release marks the end of a nearly five-month ordeal for Raveendran and his family. Indian authorities worked through diplomatic channels and with regional partners to secure his freedom and safe passage home.
