Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Sunday urged people to transform the ancient practices of Yoga and meditation into a mass movement to build a healthy and balanced society.
The Chief Minister said that the goal of Viksit Bharat@2047, envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, can be achieved only by fostering peace of mind and a healthy, disease-free lifestyle through Yoga and meditation.
He was addressing the gathering at the first convocation ceremony of coaches and trainers of the Gujarat State Yog Board, organised on the occasion of World Meditation Day.
Congratulating the Yoga trainers, CM Patel said Yoga strengthens the body, while meditation sharpens mental focus. He added that the discipline required for Yoga emerges from the strong decision-making ability developed through meditation.
Describing meditation as a blessing rooted in India’s ancient traditions, the Chief Minister said it holds special significance in ensuring mental peace in today’s fast-paced and stressful life.
Calling India a nation that provides spiritual guidance to the world, CM Patel expressed pride that, due to the global recognition accorded to Yoga by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, June 21 is now celebrated as the International Day of Yoga.
He further said that the Prime Minister has described Yoga as a simple and traditional means of safeguarding health, encouraging people to practise Yoga, pranayama and meditation regularly to stay free from diseases and ailments.
The Chief Minister emphasised that Ayushman Bharat is a crucial healthcare initiative for building a long and healthy India, providing treatment even when serious illnesses occur despite Yoga-based preventive care.
Highlighting the relevance of Yoga and meditation in today’s competitive era, CM Patel said these practices enhance concentration, decision-making ability and inner peace, without any cost or side effects.
During the event, the Chief Minister presented certificates to the Yoga trainers.
Shishpal Rajput, Chairman of the Gujarat State Yog Board, welcomed the gathering and shared insights into the Board’s activities, their significance, and the role of Yoga trainers in building a healthy nation through a healthy state.
The event was attended by Gandhinagar Mayor Mira Patel, MLA Rita Patel, office-bearers of the Gujarat province of Himalayan Samarpan Meditation, Yoga trainers, and a large number of citizens.
