General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Army Staff, has departed for an official visit to the United Arab Emirates on January 5, 2026, as part of India’s ongoing efforts to strengthen defence cooperation and military-to-military relations with friendly nations.
The two-day visit to the UAE, scheduled from January 5 to 6, will commence with General Dwivedi receiving a Guard of Honour from the UAE Land Forces upon his arrival. During his stay, the Army Chief will meet with senior leadership of the UAE Armed Forces, including the Commander of the UAE Land Forces, where he will receive comprehensive briefings on the structure, roles and capabilities of the UAE Army.
General Dwivedi will visit key military establishments and interact with officers and troops, highlighting the growing defence partnership between India and the UAE. A significant engagement during the visit includes an address to officers at the UAE National Defence College, where the Army Chief will speak to all officers present.
These engagements are designed to further enhance bilateral defence cooperation, professional military exchanges and strategic understanding between the armed forces of both nations. The visit underscores India’s commitment to strengthening defence ties and fostering mutual trust with friendly nations in West Asia.
