Jitendra Singh felicitates Deep Ocean Mission scientists invited as special guests for Republic Day Parade

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Earth Sciences Dr. Jitendra Singh on Monday felicitated scientists and researchers associated with India’s Deep Ocean Mission (DOM), who were invited as Special Guests to witness the Republic Day Parade 2026 in recognition of their scientific contributions.

A special ceremony was held at Prithvi Bhawan, where Dr. Singh interacted with the scientists and acknowledged their work in advancing India’s deep-sea exploration capabilities. The Ministry of Earth Sciences also hosted a celebratory luncheon for the invited scientists and researchers.

Dr. Singh praised the scientists for their “relentless pursuit of knowledge and innovation”, saying their efforts had placed India at the forefront of deep-ocean research and technology.

In a message on the occasion, Secretary of the Ministry of Earth Sciences Dr. M. Ravichandran congratulated the scientific community associated with the mission, noting that it was a moment of collective pride for the Ministry to be invited as a special guest for the Republic Day ceremony for the first time.

He highlighted the Ministry’s contributions over 19 years, including advancements in weather forecasting, climate services, ocean and polar research, and geosciences.

Scientists and researchers present at the event expressed gratitude for the honour and reaffirmed their commitment to the mission’s objectives.
