Prime Minister to inaugurate 28th CSPOC in New Delhi on Thursday

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 28th Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth (CSPOC) on January 15 at the Central Hall of Samvidhan Sadan in the Parliament House Complex, New Delhi.

The Prime Minister is scheduled to inaugurate the conference at 10:30 am and will also address the gathering on the occasion.

The conference will be chaired by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and will see participation from 61 Speakers and Presiding Officers representing 42 Commonwealth countries, along with four semi-autonomous parliaments.

The multi-day conference will focus on key contemporary parliamentary issues, including the role of Speakers and Presiding Officers in strengthening democratic institutions. Discussions will also cover the use of artificial intelligence in parliamentary functioning, the impact of social media on Members of Parliament, and innovative ways to enhance public understanding of Parliament.

Another major focus area will be citizen engagement beyond voting, with deliberations aimed at exploring strategies to deepen public participation in democratic processes.
