The Embassy of India in Riyadh hosted an official reception to mark the 77th Republic Day of India at the Cultural Palace in the Diplomatic Quarter on the evening of January 31, 2026. The event was attended by more than 700 guests, including resident ambassadors, senior Saudi government officials, representatives from business, think tanks, academia, media and members of the Indian diaspora. Dr. Faisal bin Abdul Aziz Al Sudairy, undersecretary for the Riyadh region, attended the event as chief guest, while Prince Abdulaziz bin Mohammed bin Ayyaf, vice minister of interior, was also present.
Addressing the gathering, Indian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Dr. Suhel Ajaz Khan highlighted the momentum in the India–Saudi Arabia strategic partnership, citing sustained bilateral engagement across sectors. He referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s state visit to Saudi Arabia in April 2025 as having given renewed direction and strength to bilateral ties. The reception featured a cultural programme including a dance performance set to India’s national song, “Vande Mataram,” marking its 150th anniversary, followed by a classical Theyyam performance from Kerala. Displays of Indian textiles, including sarees from different regions, were showcased alongside promotional stalls on tourism and healthcare. Guests sampled Indian cuisine and coffee, which drew particular appreciation for its aroma and taste.
