NEET-UG re-exam: Centre seeks states’ cooperation for smooth and fair conduct

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has written to Chief Ministers, Lieutenant Governors and Administrators of all states and Union Territories, seeking their cooperation for the smooth and fair conduct of the NEET (UG) 2026 re-examination scheduled on June 21.

In view of the prevailing severe heatwave conditions across several parts of the country, Pradhan urged states to ensure the availability of essential facilities at examination centres for the convenience and well-being of students appearing for the medical entrance examination.

In his letter, the Minister asked states to direct district authorities and institutions hosting the examination to provide basic amenities such as safe drinking water, adequate seating arrangements, functional fans and coolers, clean washrooms, shaded waiting areas, uninterrupted electricity supply and portable toilets wherever required.

Emphasising student welfare, Pradhan said the interests and well-being of aspirants remain of paramount importance and called upon state governments to ensure adequate transportation arrangements for candidates on the day of the examination.

The Union Minister also expressed confidence that all states and Union Territories would extend full cooperation to ensure that the NEET (UG) 2026 re-examination is conducted in a smooth, transparent and fair manner.

The NEET-UG re-examination is scheduled to be held nationwide on June 21 amid heightened focus on exam management and candidate convenience due to the ongoing heatwave conditions.
