PM Modi hails growing global appeal of Indian dance and music during Italy visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday praised the growing popularity of Indian music and classical dance forms in Italy, highlighting the cultural performances presented by Italian artistes during a community reception in Rome as a reflection of the deepening cultural ties between India and Italy.

During the event attended by members of the Indian diaspora, Italian performers showcased Indian classical dance forms including Kuchipudi, Bharatanatyam and Kathak in a special “Trigalbandi” performance. Sharing the experience on X, PM Modi said it was “wonderful to see Indian dance forms drawing global interest.”

The performers included Svamini Atmananda Giri, Martina Meenakshi Argada, Lucrezia Maniscotti, Valeria Vespaziani and Rosella Fanelli, all of whom have developed a strong interest in Indian classical arts.

PM Modi also praised a group of Italian musicians who performed the Indian classical raga Hamsadhwani using traditional Indian instruments such as Santoor, Sitar, Tabla and Bansuri.

“Indian music is getting very popular in Italy,” the Prime Minister said on X, complimenting musicians Valerio Bruni, Leo Vertunni, Simone Mattiello, Francesco Gherardi and Nicolo Mellochi for their performance.
