Ayush Ministry launches Yoga Park Portal to turn public parks into wellness hubs

The Ministry of Ayush has launched the Yoga Park Portal, an initiative aimed at transforming existing parks and public spaces across the country into community wellness hubs that promote yoga, meditation and preventive healthcare.

The portal was launched by Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ayush and Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Prataprao Jadhav during the 25-day countdown event for International Day of Yoga 2026 in Khajuraho, Madhya Pradesh. The platform was unveiled alongside the revamped Yoga Sangam Portal as part of efforts to expand the grassroots reach of yoga and create long-term wellness infrastructure.

According to the Ayush Ministry, the initiative seeks to convert existing parks into dedicated spaces for yoga practice, meditation and community wellness activities. Panchayati Raj Institutions, Urban Local Bodies, Resident Welfare Associations, non-governmental organisations, corporate entities and other institutions can participate in developing and maintaining Yoga Parks through the portal.

Designed as a community-driven programme, Yoga Park aims to promote healthier lifestyles and strengthen preventive healthcare by making wellness activities more accessible at the neighbourhood level. The parks can include dedicated yoga platforms, meditation zones, green spaces, awareness facilities and open areas for group sessions catering to people of all age groups.

The Ministry said the initiative also encourages participation through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes, allowing companies to contribute to the creation and maintenance of wellness infrastructure. Such parks are expected to serve as venues for regular yoga sessions, health awareness campaigns and community engagement activities.

The portal functions as a digital platform providing guidelines, concept notes, registration facilities and other resources required for stakeholders to join the initiative. By bringing together government institutions, local bodies, community organisations and private partners, the Ministry aims to create a nationwide movement centred on wellness and preventive healthcare.

With the International Day of Yoga 2026 approaching under the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing”, the Yoga Park Portal aims to promote regular physical activity, mindfulness and social interaction by creating dedicated spaces that encourage greater participation in yoga and healthier lifestyles across rural and urban India.
