Central Vista Metro Corridor Takes Shape as DMRC Commences Construction

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation on Wednesday commenced construction work at the Central Secretariat Metro Station as part of the Central Vista Corridor under Phase V(A) of the Delhi Metro expansion project.

The project was launched in the presence of Manohar Lal Khattar, along with senior officials from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and DMRC.

Being developed as an extension of the existing Magenta Line from Janakpuri West to RK Ashram Marg, the Central Secretariat station will emerge as a major transportation hub in the national capital. The station will function as a triple interchange facility, connecting the new Magenta Line with the existing Yellow and Violet Lines, enabling seamless travel for commuters.

The enhanced connectivity is expected to benefit government employees, residents and visitors travelling to the Lutyens’ Delhi area and key administrative districts.

The Central Vista Corridor will span 9.913 kilometres and include nine underground stations: Shivaji Stadium, Yuge Yugeen Bharat, Central Secretariat, Kartavya Bhawan, India Gate, War Memorial–High Court, Baroda House, Bharat Mandapam and Indraprastha.

According to DMRC, the corridor will improve access to major government offices, judicial institutions, national memorials and convention centres, while enhancing the efficiency of Delhi Metro’s expanding network and improving passenger convenience across the city.
