Dubai is set to celebrate the 12th International Day of Yoga on June 21 with a large community event organised by the Consulate General of India in Dubai in collaboration with Dubai Police’s Positive Spirit Council. The event in Dubai will bring together members of the Indian community, Dubai Police personnel, diplomats, students and yoga practitioners. Participants will take part in a guided session featuring yoga postures, breathing techniques and meditation exercises aimed at promoting overall wellness.
The Indian Mission said the programme reflects the enduring cultural connections between India and the UAE and a shared commitment to fostering healthier and more connected communities. As preparations continue for Sunday’s celebrations, the event is expected to further strengthen awareness of yoga’s benefits and encourage wider participation in healthy living practices across the Emirates.
Observed every year on June 21, the International Day of Yoga was established by the United Nations in 2014, with the first global celebrations held in 2015. Over the past decade, it has evolved into one of the world’s largest public wellness movements, bringing together millions of people in a shared pursuit of health, harmony and well-being.
This year’s theme, “Yoga for Healthy Aging,” highlights the growing recognition of yoga as a holistic practice that supports physical health, mental well-being and emotional balance. The theme also underscores yoga’s role in preventive healthcare and its ability to help people maintain vitality and independence at every stage of life.
