INS Tarkash concludes port call in Seychelles, strengthens maritime ties

Indian Naval Ship (INS) Tarkash, a stealth frigate of the Indian Navy, has concluded its port call at Port Victoria, Seychelles, and departed on June 15 for further deployment, the Ministry of Defence said on Wednesday.

Over the course of the visit, the warship engaged in a range of professional exchanges, community outreach initiatives and diplomatic activities aimed at bolstering the longstanding friendship and maritime partnership between India and Seychelles.

The ship was opened to visitors on June 13, attracting members of the Indian diaspora and the local community, who interacted with the crew and gained insights into the Indian Navy’s operations and capabilities.

As part of its outreach efforts, the ship’s medical team conducted a humanitarian programme for elderly residents, offering first aid, basic medical consultations and distributing medicines and food supplies.

INS Tarkash also hosted a cultural evening attended by Seychelles Vice President Alix Sebastien Pillay, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of the High Commission of India and other distinguished guests.

The ministry said the visit reaffirmed the close ties between the two countries and highlighted India’s commitment to strengthening maritime cooperation, regional security and the MAHASAGAR (Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions) vision.
